Plastic food storage in the early nineties sealed by friction: you pressed a lid on and hoped. It worked on the shelf and failed in the bag, so a generation learned to carry soup upright. Snapware's founding idea was to make the seal mechanical. A hinged latch pulls the lid down onto a gasket and holds it there, and four of them hold it evenly.
Why the Pyrex chapter mattered
